On February 25, 2015, 70 dogs and 3 cats were taken from a home where the animals had been abused and neglected. It was one of the worst abuse cases in Vermont history. For the Love of Dogs/Vermont Dog Rescue offered to help Central Vermont Humane Society with fostering a few of the abused animals. Sadly, after much love and kindness VDR lost foster Sunshine. Sunshine had been starved for too long and just could not survive. Charges have been filed against the owners of these animals. VDR volunteers attended the first court appearance in Hyde Park on Wednesday, April 22nd. It did not go as well as we would have liked as the defendants are still in possession of 4 dogs and 3 cats. The case will continue and VDR as well as all the other involved humane organizations are determined to see that this couple receive the punishment they deserve to the full extent of the law.
