Adoption saves lives

If you're interested in learning more about any of these dogs, or know that you are ready to adopt, please complete the Adoption Application. An application must be on file to be considered for adoption.

Puppies have special needs and will only be placed in a home where they can be monitored often (they should not be left alone for more than 4 hours at a time). Please consider your time and space limitations before applying to adopt a puppy.

Unless otherwise noted: All our dogs have been fully vetted and spayed/neutered; all have tested heart worm–negative; all are currently awaiting rescue in Alabama, Georgia, or Tennessee, and, upon adoption approval, FLD/Vermont Dog Rescue will transport them to Vermont.

Additional information about bringing home a rescue can be found in our Guidelines for Adopters of Rescue Dogs.

Unless otherwise noted:

All our dogs are currently awaiting rescue in Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, or Tennessee. Upon adoption approval, they will be transported to Vermont.

Celeste — available to meet in Warren, VT!

Red heeler/lab mix
2-3 yrs, 35-40 lbs, female
Super sweet!

Pip

Until Pip finds his permanent home, he is looking for a temporary foster home near Addison VT. His current trainer's facility is not set up to safely house Pip over the Winter. Trainer will be available for continued training/consultation with new foster and will take Pip back as soon as the weather improves in the early Spring (unless he has found a forever home before then, of course!).

2 yrs, 38 lbs, male
Up to date on shots, neutered
Good with cats
Can go to a home with female dogs who match his exuberant play style
Happy-go-lucky, tons of personality, food motivated and great at learning tricks
Active; loves walking in the woods but equally excited to chill on the couch
Ideal living situation would be one with a fenced-in yard, in a quiet neighborhood
Great in the house: not destructive, no accidents, no separation anxiety, waits to eat until you tell him he can eat, doesn't get on furniture until you tell him he can, will stay in his "place" for as long as you need him to!
Has been working with a trainer to address reactivity toward bicyclists, motorcycles, and other dogs when on leash (whining, pulling); has made immense progress and is incredibly responsive and focused with trainer
Will need someone who is committed to following the trainer’s instructions and methods to ensure continued behavior modification, which should eventually result in reactivity eradication
A good boy who will make a wonderful forever friend

Lucy Lu

Shepherd/Lab mix (maybe some boxer)
11 mo, 30 lbs (but could get as big as 40-45 lbs), female
Up to date on shots, spayed
Sweet and loving
An active girl: agility work would be perfect
An active family with lots of playtime, walks and runs would also work well
Great with other dogs
Loves to play and romp; loves to play fetch and any kind of jumping games like ball toss

Lucy Lu has a universal blood type that allowed her to save the lives of two other dogs needing life-saving blood transfusions!

Zelda

Great Pyrenees possibly mixed with Golden Retriever
3 yrs, 68 lbs, female
Up to date on shots, spayed
Very, very sweet
Gets along with other dogs
Particularly attached to her foster dad
Zelda’s perfect home would be with a quiet, calm couple with access to an outdoor space of her own; has never used stairs and has spent most of her time outdoors, so is not used to a leash. Zelda would be happiest in a quiet country setting with few people around
